Privacy Policy
This policy was last updated on September 20, 2004
Thank you for visiting www.LawMarkets.com, which
I, Suuzen Ty Anderson, own. This privacy policy explains
my practices regarding how information about visitors
to this website is collected and used. By using this
site, you consent to the following terms:
At LawMarkets.com, I respect my customers and understand
that you are concerned about privacy, so I 've instituted
policies intended to ensure that your personal information
is handled safely and responsibly. I also have posted
this privacy policy to let you know what kind of information
I collect, how it is handled, with whom it may be
shared, what choices you have regarding my use of
your information, and how you may access some of the
data you provide to me .
As I continue to develop my website and take advantage
of technologies to improve the services I offer, this
policy likely will change. All changes will be posted
on this page. I therefore encourage you to refer to
this policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand
my current privacy policy. The then-current privacy
policy will always apply.
What Information Do I Collect?
I collect various types of information depending
upon how you use my site.
- When you order from me, I collect your name, billing
address, shipping address, email address, phone
number, and credit card number (with expiration
date) and any priority code number you have received.
I also gather information on any person who will
receive information or products you ask me to send
to that person (e.g., that person's name, address,
and e-mail address) and I will retain a record of
your purchases. I also may ask for additional information
(such as your interest in future products or seminars)
so that I may offer services and promotions that
may be of interest to you. However, you have the
option not to provide it.
- If I offer a seminar for which there is continuing
legal education ("cle") credit, I will
also ask for your State Bar number or law license
number; you have the option not to provide it if
you do not want cle credit, but if you do want credit,
you will have to provide it in accordance with the
cle rules and regulations of the state for which
the credit is offered.
- If you subscribe to my email newsletter, I collect
your name and e-mail address. I also may ask for
additional information so that I may offer services
and promotions that may be of interest to you. However,
you have the option not to provide it.
- When you submit a question to customer service,
I need your email address and name to respond, and
you also may provide me with various additional
information to help me answer your question.
- I also may receive some information about you
from other sources and may add it to your account
information. For example, I might get your updated
address from a shipper or information on your preferences
from another website conducting a promotion or event
with me .
- I may acquire customer lists from other parties
so that I may invite new people to visit LawMarkets.com.
In sending out offers, my policy is to comply with
all provisions of the federal Can-Spam Act. Also,
each time I send an email offer, I provide people
with the opportunity to opt out of receiving future
email offers.
What Are Cookies and Do I Use Them?
- A cookie is a small piece of information sent
by a website that is saved on your hard disk by
your computer's browser. It holds information a
site may need to interact with you and personalize
your experience. At LawMarkets.com, I use two kinds
of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies.
- Session cookies exist only for as long as your
browser remains open. Once you exit your browser,
they go away. I use session cookies to maintain
information I need to have in order for you to shop
at LawMarkets.com. For example, the Session ID cookie
that I use allows your browser to retain the ID
for your shopping cart. Without the Session ID cookie,
you can't add merchandise, such as a seminar registration,
to your cart and carry it to checkout.
- Persistent cookies, in contrast, last from visit
to visit; they do not go away when you exit your
browser. At LawMarkets.com, you can use my site
without accepting a persistent cookie. To do so,
you should set your browser options to reject persistent
cookies. Alternatively, you can set your browser
to notify you when you receive a cookie, which gives
you the opportunity to decide whether you want to
accept it or not. In many instances, the Help button
on your browser toolbar will tell you how you can
take these steps.
- Cookies can be used by a website to recognize
you. But that does not necessarily mean any personal
information is stored in the cookies. At LawMarkets.com,
I store no personal information about you in the
cookies. Anything you choose to tell me about yourself
(such as your address and email address) is stored
safely and separately on my secured servers or my
offline computers.
- I also use cookies to look at how groups, rather
than individuals, use my website. Cookies help me
understand how people navigate through my website,
which pages are the most heavily visited and which
products and services are the most popular, and
which pages, links, or other page elements are confusing
or unappealing. This helps me improve the website
arrangement of graphics, links, text, product offerings,
services, and other items you see at LawMarkets.com.
How Do I Use Your Information?
I may use your information in a number of ways, including
the following:
- In order to serve you better, I may combine the
information you provide me online, during telephone
calls, at seminars, and in answer to mail or email.
I use that information to improve your overall shopping
experience and to make the products and services
I offer better fit your needs.
- I may also use your information for marketing
and promotional purposes. For example, I send out
email and direct mail to my online and store customers
about products or events that I think may be of
interest to them. I also may send you offers for
discounts for products, seminars, or services ordered
on my site or by telephone.
Do I Share Your Information?
I do not sell or distribute your information. However,
because of the way the internet works, the information
you give me may be seen by responsible third parties
with whom I have a relationship:
- If you make a purchase from LawMarkets.com through
a link from another website or search engine, both
LawMarkets.com and that website or search engine
will receive your information, as will your credit
card company and my possibly my merchant bank.
- In some cases, LawMarkets.com may enter into
a co-branding relationship with another website
that offers you products or services that supplement
those of LawMarkets.com. In those cases, you may
link from LawMarkets.com to another site and purchase
the item. If you make such a purchase, both LawMarkets.com
and the other website may receive your information.
- LawMarkets.com may team with another website
to conduct an event such as a live Web chat. If
you register for such an event, each of the participating
websites may collect or receive personal information
from you.
- For some of the products mentioned on this site,
LawMarkets.com may provide you with a link to the
supplier of that product so that you may get further
information. If you go to the supplier's site, the
supplier may collect or receive information about
you.
- Like other businesses, LawMarkets.com may use
an outside company to place advertising banners
or links on other sites. In certain cases, the advertiser
may collect information on people who click on the
banner or link.
- If, in the future, the LawMarkets.com business
changes form -- for example, by merger or partnership
-- your personally identifiable information may
be transferred to the reorganized business entity.
LawMarkets.com will also disclose your personally
identifiable information if I reasonably believes
this is required by law, regulation or other government
authority.
Links
This website may contain links to third parties'
websites. If you choose to visit a third party's site,
please be aware that the third party's privacy policy,
and not LawMarkets.com's, will govern your activities
and any information you disclose while visiting the
third party's site.
